Factors to Consider in Selecting a Daycare

As a parent, you want your child to have the best daycare; settling for second best is not an option. Here are some suggestions to consider in choosing a daycare:

CAREGIVER-CHILD RATIO: In a national childcare study, it was concluded that a ratio of less than five children to one caregiver is optimal in providing quality care to young children.  At Ruiz Family Child Care our ratio is never more than one caregiver to four children.

ENVIRONMENT: Children thrive in a daycare setting that is predictable and structured. A regular routine will make your child feel at ease. Equally important is that the facility should be safe and provides the stimulation necessary to promote learning and physical activity. There should be a healthy amount of down time and a schedule that is flexible enough to respond to your child’s individual needs. At Ruiz Family Home Daycare we provide a healthy balance of play, rest and learning to meet the unique character of your child.

COMMUNICATION: Good daycare providers will keep you connected to your baby's day. Whether it is in the form of a daily journal or through regular conversations by email or in person, information about your baby's day should be communicated to you. We at Ruiz Family Home Daycare are available in person, by phone, by email, and even by text messaging, to speak to you at any time about your child.

CARE: Children need love and care, and a daycare provider will be a central figure in your child’s life.  The emotional health and welfare of your child is dependent on the bonding he or she is able to make with the daycare provider. Plenty of affection and patience from a stable childcare worker will go a long way in helping your child quickly adjust to time without you. We at Ruiz Family Home Daycare are mothers, too, and have a deep commitment to providing love and care to all children.
